Fellowes Binding Machines
Your guide to choosing the right Binding Machine from Comb, Wire and Thermal Binders!

Binding is the perfect way to represent your documents!

Printed material in a bound document yields professional results and a greater impact when presenting.

Quality of binding has improved tremendously in recent years and superb results can be had at reasonable cost. There are several different types of binding, the most common being Comb binding, Wire binding and Thermal Binding. As each method requires the purchase of a different machine, it is necessary to decide beforehand which is the best method to suit your requirements.

Why Bind?

Binding is a simple and easy way to produce a professionally bound document

When you've worked hard on a project and invested time and money into your presentation, you need to give it the professional finish it deserves to ensure you make the greatest impact and that your first impression counts.

What are the Benefits of Binding?

  • Presenting a professional, high quality image will reflect well on you and your organisation
  • Enhance usability because bound documents are easier to handle and store
  • Protect and preserve materials which otherwise can become dog-eared with age and frequent use
  • Add style and colour through a wide choice of covers, combs and wires

What are the Different Types of Binding?

Comb Binding Machines

Comb binding is one of the most popular types of binding. This method utilises coiled plastic coiled 'combs'. The comb binding machine will first punch the required holes in the paper, then stretch open the comb for the punched paper to be laid, the coil is then closed to finish the job. Combs are available in different diameters to suit different thickness documents, and in different colours too. A higher page capacity is achievable by this method, and powered electric binders are available for more heavy duty usage.

Coil and Wire Binding Machines

Coil/Wire binding is handled in the same way as plastic combs in terms of binding machine operation. Wire bound documents facilitate easier turning of pages and the open document can lay flat, or be opened back to back. As is the case with plastic coil binding, wire coils are available in different diameters to suit different thickness documents, and in different colours too. Electric binders are available for more heavy duty usage.

Thermal Binding

Thermal binding is a simpler method, albeit slightly more expensive. The unbound documents are inserted into pre-glued spines, the thermal binder then heats up the glue to lock the pages into place. Spines are available in many colours and sizes to suit different applications.
